Calculation methodology

From one or more bills we join the periods, remove duplicates and overlaps, and prefer final bills with actual readings over advance bills and estimates. Consumption is scaled proportionally to 365 days. Because usage varies by season, when the data covers less than a year we show a range rather than a single figure: the fewer days, the wider the range.

For each plan we apply the published energy price (fixed, zoned, tiered or index formula), the fixed fee, the discounts that apply to you and taxes. Network charges (IPTO, HEDNO), regulated charges (PSO, renewables levy), excise and the special levy come from a separately verified set and are identical across suppliers. Municipal fees and the ERT fee are not included.

Order depends only on the estimated supply cost incl. VAT — the part of the bill that changes with the supplier. No commercial relationship affects the ranking.

Only when you've confirmed your current plan, its price is verified and it matches your bill. We deduct any early-exit fee. We call the gap meaningful when it exceeds €30 a year and 5% of the current cost.

A discount counts only if you say you accept its condition (e.g. direct debit, e-bill). Others are shown separately and don't reduce the price.

Every price has a source, effective date and verification date. Prices not verified for more than 45 days (fixed) or 35 days (variable) are left out of comparisons.

For variable plans we apply the current published price to the whole year and say so. Dynamic (hourly) tariffs aren't ranked without hourly meter data, because their cost depends on when you use power.

Every price is transcribed from the supplier's own official price list or terms and, for regulated charges and taxes, from the publications of the Ministry, the tax authority (AADE) and the network operators as reproduced in suppliers' price lists. We don't use prices from third-party sites or news. Each plan shows its source link and verification date.

We don't cover every plan on the market: we include only those we can document from an official document. The full list is on the “Tariffs” page. Green (special) tariff prices apply for one month and are renewed when suppliers publish the next ones.

PSO charges (ΥΚΩ) are tiered separately for the standard and reduced (night) zone, with four-monthly limits (1,600 and 2,000 kWh) pro-rated to the period. The fixed distribution charge uses the contracted capacity (kVA) you give; without it the comparison still works (the charge is the same with every supplier), but we can't show the full bill total. The 5‰ special levy is charged on supply, regulated charges except ΕΤΜΕΑΡ, and excise. VAT uses the 6% rate; reduced rates on some islands, the social tariff (ΚΟΤ), subsidies, municipal fees and the ERT fee are not included.
